Myofascial Release

Myofascial Release (MFR) is a whole body, hands-on approach of evaluating and treating human structure to return normal function. Fascia is a specialized system of the body covering every bone, muscle, organ, tissue, artery, nerve and vein in the body. Fascia is densely woven and somewhat like the appearance of a spider’s web, connecting each and every part of the entire body to each other. When we experience trauma, such as a fall, the fascia becomes tight and restricted and can cause pain in other parts of the body down to the cellular level. By applying gentle sustained pressure, and stretches, and long holds to the fascia, it releases restriction in the tissue, eliminating pain and restoring motion.

CranioSacral Therapy

CranioSacral Therapy (CST) is a gentle, non-invasive hands on technique to restore normal position and motion of the bones of the skull, spine and sacrum, and restore cerebro-spinal fluid flow. This technique is performed by using a light touch to monitor the rhythm of the craniosacral system to detect potential restrictions and imbalances and help alleviate illness, pain and dysfunction.

Visceral Manipulation

An innovative technique that focuses on the internal organs and their influences on other associated structural and physiological functions. Viscera are the soft internal organs of the body, especially those contained within the abdominal and thoracic cavities. The visceral system relies on the interconnected synchronicity between the motions of all the organs and structures of the body. When an organ cannot move in harmony with its neighbors, it paves the way to disease and dysfunction. By using this gentle technique, our therapists are able to enhance tissue movement and mobility to help improve the function of the organs and decrease pain to promote your body’s natural healing process.

Muscle Energy Techniques

Muscle Energy Technique (MET) consists of manual therapy for the treatment of movement impairments for spinal and extremity mobilization. By placing the affected joints in precise positions for soft tissue contraction and relaxation it is able to inhibit restrictions within the muscular skeletal system. MET focuses on joint range of motion limitation, and uses light to moderate muscular contractions to restore normal joint position and motion.

Mechanical Link

Reduces structural tensions throughout the body by finding and correcting osseous strain patterns within the bones themselves, and their fascial coverings. Mechanical Link is also used to help reduce structural tensions and encourage the body to adjust and regulate itself.

Strain-Counter-Strain

A non-invasive treatment that enhances the biomechanics of the spine and peripheral joints, and eliminates inappropriate nerve activity and muscle spasms. It uses palpation and positioning procedures to restore pain free movement.

Japanese Myotherapy

An aggressive, deep friction massage technique that eliminates painful trigger points and muscle hardenings. Trigger points can be from birth, trauma, falls, strains, sprains, Fibromyalgia, and misuse/overuse of the body. A trigger point is a spot that is painful when compressed and radiates pain or symptoms to another location. This technique dates back over 400 years.

Acupressure

This technique applies differing amounts of pressure to restore normal energy flow along the various meridians of the body. It helps to reduce tension, increase circulation, and enable the body to relax and strengthen resistance to disease as well as promoting wellness.

Esoteric Healing

An alternative energy medicine technique used to balance and revitalize the human energy field to promote healing. The human energy field flows through and around us by way of our seven centers of energy, our chakras. By mapping and measuring the energy field around you, the therapists are able to find alterations in the flow of energy and help restore its optimal balance.

Women’s Health

Diagnoses such as Incontinence, Pelvic Pain, Coccygeal Pain, and Fibromyalgia can be due to fascial restrictions of the pelvic area. Many chronic, persistent headaches, neck and back pain can also be related to restrictions in this area. Focusing on muscle re-education, musculoskeletal re-alignment and release of fascial restrictions throughout the pelvic and lower back area helps address these issues. Treatment may include use of biofeedback and manual techniques for muscle re-education as well as Visceral Manipulation techniques to pelvic organs (bladder, uterus, rectum). Patient education focuses on modification of behaviors along with strength and flexibility exercises.

Pediatric Conditions

This light touch manual therapy approach combined with traditional pediatric physical therapy has been shown to greatly benefit to children with diagnoses including Autism Spectrum Disorders, Torticollis, Plagiocephaly (Head shape/skull bone override), Reflux, Colic, Erb’s Palsy, ADD/ADHD, Sensory Integration Disorders, coordination and balance problems, Hypotonia, Cerebral Palsy, Seizures Disorders, developmental delays, and many others.
